Director of Jadranska Kuca d.o.o. and General Manager of Jadran Kapital d.o.o from October2006 to October 2009 in Croatia.

Whilst in Croatia Simon managed a private UK investment portfolio of €3m. The portfolio consisted of various stages of development and included 20 private villas with pools, eight farmhouses including 100,000 square meters of agricultural land for the production of olive oil.

Simon has lived and worked in Dubrovnik, Istria, and Zagreb and was involved in all aspects of managing the property portfolio: sourcing projects/land, gaining financing and debt from Croatian banks, obtaining building status, planning, design, construction, fit-out of properties and marketing.

Whilst there, Simon created a strong team of Croatian partners, from builders and architects to accountants and lawyers.

Partner in C. J. Newnes & Partners the family wholesale fish merchants at Billingsgate Market London, until its sale in late 2004. He became a partner in 1988 following 8 generations in the business, which was heavily involved in the worldwide fish industry.

Whilst living in Croatia, Simon became a Shareholder and Director of DCML in February 2009 before moving back to the UK in July 2009, to take a more active role in the company and became company secretary in December 2010.

Simon is the Company Secretary and the FSA Compliance Oversight officer within DCML and is responsible for liaising with the Guernsey based Administrator and various IFA groups and platforms.
